Hickory Young Professionals (HYP) was established in 2008 to provide young professionals in the Greater Hickory Metro Area
an opportunity to excel professionally, socially, and economically. This initiative was a recommendation of the Catawba County Chamber of Commerce.
The Chamber recognized the economic impact of engaged, young professionals on the region and the need to retain existing,

Celebrate The Harvest event is Safe Harbor’s main fundraiser for the year. All of the proceeds raised from this exciting event will go
towards funding for the following year for the necessary programs and services that allow the program participants
and guests to receive them free of charge. Safe Harbor is a local nonprofit that focuses on a wholistic approach to provide support for women living in recovery
and housing for women at risk for homelessness, also at no charge. In addition to helping women live in recovery, this local ministry helps
women gain skills for employment, establish independent living and provides various services to assist them by giving them a hand up instead of a hand out.

In Hickory they serve women and their children who are experiencing homelessness through the Community Center. They also serve women seeking long-term recovery through the Whole Woman, year-long residential program. Safe Harbor offers a transitional housing program for the Whole Woman graduates and their children, as well as other women seeing help to transition into independent living. Safe Harbor's High Country location offers navigational services for women contemplating recovery. The also offer recovery coaching, classes and support groups for women in recovery. The Passage is an extension of Safe Harbor's Community Center, which exists to provide temporary shelter and assistance to women who have been unable to secure housing or assisted living without ongoing supportive services. Safe Harbor is a faith-based 501-C3. Catawba Valley Healthcare is a local non-profit providing services for individuals with brain health
and intellectual developmental disabilities. CVH provides primary care in a whole person care model for the needs of the individual patient.
They serve approximately 5,500 people per year with medication management, primary care, therapy, residential services and day programs.
CVH also operates a mobile crisis program providing support for the citizens of Burke and Catawba County. CVH works closely with
law enforcement with the Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion Program, Substance Use services in the jail and
support for re-entry to the community.
Timothy Lentz, LCSW, will be assuming the role of CEO on August 1, 2022 from the long term CEO John Waters.

The Catawba County Board of Commissioners issued a Proclamation in recognition of National Small Business Week,
presented to The Chamber of Catawba County. Accepting for The Chamber of Commerce is President Lindsay Keisler,
Executive Board of Directors member, Lori Alala, & Vice President of Operations, Kim Dahlsten.
Chairman of the Catawba County Commissioners, Randy Isenhour presented the award.
Also presented, was a proclamation declaring May 1-7, 2022, Tourism Week in the county. Mandy Hildebrand, CEO, Hickory Metro Convention Center
& Visitors Bureau accepted the award. Additionally, a proclamation declaring May 14, 2022, Letter Carrier's "Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive Day"
was presented to Wayne Eller, Letter Carrier's Food Drive Coordinator. And a program presented by Catawba Valley Community College
"Parks Art Project" was shown. CVCC students Stephanie Hultron, Gideon Hart & Maddie Barrymore discussed how

The "Ribbon Cutting" & Grand Opening of Bruce Meisner Park was held today in Hickory, NC. The ceremony celebrated the
grand opening of the new 73 acre park and completion of it's first phase of construction. Hickory's newest park is named in honor of Hickory resident
and former councilman Bruce Meisner, who served the City of Hickory for 32 years. During his tenure on the Hickory City Council, Mr. Meisner was
a strong supporter of regional partnerships for water & sewer infrastructure, transportation improvements and recreational amenities.
Plus, Councilman Meisner was involved with many other projects that significantly benefits the City of Hickory.

Classroom Connections, in partnership with the Hickory Crawdads Baseball team and WHKY-AM/FM/TV, held an Easter Egg hunt
for children in grades 6 and under on April 2, 2022, at L.P. Frans Stadium in Hickory, NC. All children at the Egg Hunt received a free Easter basket,
plus a free ticket to any Hickory Crawdads Home game during the season. "We had over 10,000 eggs that were put on the 'Egg Field'.
Eggs were exchanged for a host of great prizes, from bikes to basketballs", said Donald Hicks, Founder & Executive Director of Classroom Connections.
Classroom Connections, a 501(c)(3) non profit organization, "The Teachers Resource", is a free shopping store for local educators. Educators are invited to
shop for free school supplies for their classrooms and for their students who need them. Classroom Connections serves all public K-12 schools
in the following counties: Alexander, Burke, Caldwell, Catawba, Cleveland, Iredell & Lincoln.

the few female-owned and operated distilleries in NC, run by two sisters, Andie Foss and Baillie Rector.

The Rudy Wright Pedestrian Bridge collapsed without warning last night. It was officially opened on December 16, 2021.
Named and dedicated as the Rudy Wright Bridge, in honor of late Hickory mayor Glenn Rudolph “Rudy” Wright, Jr. Wright served the City of Hickory
as mayor for 16 years and was instrumental in the City’s bond program.

This is the centerpiece for the City Walk and a one-of-a-kind wooden structure crafted specifically for Hickory. "We hope that the bridge becomes a
recognizable landmark for the City of Hickory and an enduring reminder of Rudy’s leadership and dedication to the Hickory community,” said Hickory Mayor, Hank Guess at the Ribbon Cutting last December. The City Walk is the first of five segments of the Hickory Trail, a 10-mile multi-use path that is designed to improve quality of life and
drive economic development by connecting destinations across the city, including Lenoir-Rhyne University, historic Ridgeview community, downtown,
OLLE Arts District (Old Lenoir Road), Lake Hickory, L.P. Frans Stadium, and Hickory Regional Airport.
